KENYA SAKAMI GLORIA SINGLE FARMER LOT RUBY RED WASHED AA
Discover the Origin
Kenya Sakami Gloria Single Farmer Lot Ruby Red Washed AA is an expressive and elegantly structured Direct Trade specialty coffee from Sakami Coffee Farm in Kenya’s North Rift Valley. This lot is based on the Ruby Red cultivar, a Kenyan variety known for its fruity intensity, floral clarity and vibrant acidity.
Sakami Coffee Farm is led by Gloria Gummerus, who has developed the farm into a model of regenerative agriculture and social inclusion. The farm operates under agroforestry principles, combining coffee with macadamia, avocado and native shade trees. This creates a stable ecosystem, improves soil health and supports slow and even cherry maturation.
A key part of Sakami is its women’s group, consisting of around 50 women involved in harvesting, processing and community development. They are increasingly organising as a collective to improve economic independence and access to financial resources.
The Ruby Red lot represents a more classic Kenyan expression: clean, fruit-driven and distinctly washed in profile.

About the Origin
Sakami Coffee Farm is located in Kenya’s North Rift Valley, a fertile agricultural region known for ideal conditions for high-altitude specialty coffee. At around 1,800 metres above sea level, cool nights and warm days slow cherry maturation, enhancing sugar development and acidity complexity.
Gloria Gummerus has developed Sakami as an integrated farming system where biodiversity and social impact are central. Through agroforestry, coffee plants are shaded by macadamia, avocado and native trees, improving both quality and resilience.
The Ruby Red variety contributes to a classic Kenyan profile with pronounced fruit notes and a clean washed expression. Careful AA-grade selection ensures uniformity and high quality.
The women’s group plays a key role throughout production and strengthens the local community through collaboration, training and economic organisation.
Processing Method
Ripe cherries are hand-picked and carefully sorted before being depulped and fermented in water.
The coffee is then washed and slowly dried on raised beds. This washed process maximises clarity, brightness and a transparent fruit profile.
